Charting module

Charting module

The charting module contains all patient charting information: chart notes, scanned documents, problems, medications, forms, letters, referrals, worklists, and, if the features are enabled, patient messaging and treatment plans.

Open the charting window from:

  1. The tool bar (Icons usually down the left side of the screen).
  2. Client menu along the top.
  3. By pressing F5

The items along the top as well as the reference panel will always remain visible regardless of the tab you have open.

Along the top:

  1. Patient demographics along the window top.
  2. Patient dashboard (if enabled, the expanded notes).
  3. Notes stating if there are overdue worklists, and if there are any CDS notifications active.
  4. Buttons to access: dr2dr, Netcare, client card, labels, worklists, and letters.
  5. Buttons to action: print, undo, and close.

 Buttons to action:

  1. Undo: Will reload the charting without saving any changes.
  2. Close: Shuts down the charting window.
  3.  Print: Opens the chart printing window, select the items to print, or send through the patient portal if enabled.

When first opening this window, it will default to Print only todays forms and prescriptions; these items will be highlighted in the bottom section for you to select your printer and click print.

Change the radio button to print all, this will highlight most of the sections for you. If there are additional sections required, check off the boxes for the applicable sections, this will mean having to select all again, but there is a button to do that for you.

There are a few options for printing chart notes and labs in full detail or short form.

Print chart notes as text – This prints all chart note fields in one box, with multiple chart notes on one page. This is the recommended view to print chart notes, it will print all the clinical notes, including vitals, into one text box, avoiding printing billing codes from the bottom of the note.

Stretch chart notes – Will print screen shots of each chart note, one per page.

Here you will see the boxes with text in it, but those that are empty will be blank space on the page. This will take much more paper if printing chart notes like this.

Lab results (Full Detail) – This will print labs one per page, so to save paper, uncheck this, and as long as lab results is checked off, it will place multiple per page size dependent.

This print window also allows you to send selected items through the patient portal if a patient has a portal account.

Patient handouts

On the right-hand side there can be a list of patient handouts that don’t have patient information on but are general information that may be share with patients. This is where you can print or send those to patients through the portal, without having to leave healthquest. Click here to review more on handouts, and how to save them into healthquest.
