Group medications and favorites

Creating medication favorites

Save commonly used medications as a favorite for future more efficient use.

  1. Create a new medication on a chart, after the details have been entered, click ‘save as favorite’.

  1. Select the doctor from the dropdown (or shared if a clinic favorite).
  2. Select the group to add medication to or create a new group in the bottom line.

  1. Click ok. 

Using medication favorites

On the medication tab, click new.

The medication window may automatically open, if not, click the three dots at the end of the medication name field.


  1. Select the group favorites name from the left column.
  2. Select the medication required.
  3. Double click or select and click ok, that medication will populate in the medication window.
  4. Save and print or create the next medication.

Creating medication groups

Set up groups of medications that are always prescribed at the same time, to reduce time in creating multiple new medications.

Setup > charting setup > prescription groups/macros.



  1. Click new group, label it appropriately, and assign a practitioner.
  2. Enter a macro, for quick use of med group without the medication lookup box.
  3. Click save.
  4. Highlight the group in the list and click ‘add favorite to group’.
    1. Search the medication lookup window for the correct one, select it, click ok.
    2. Or close the lookup window and manually enter the medication in with all the details.
  5. Click save.
  6. Add all the medications to the group, clicking save after each one.


Using medication groups

 On the meds tab in a patient’s chart, click new.

  1. Type in the macro into the medication name field + enter.
    1. Or select the group on the left in the medication lookup window, click ok.


  1. A warning will pop up, ‘Would you like to create # prescriptions for this client?’
  2. Click yes and all medications within that group will generate.


  1. Make any edits if required, then print prescriptions.
