Creating new letter types

Creating new letter types

The use of letter types will help clearly decipher what letters are on a patient chart without opening them.

Setup > Add item types > select letters in the ‘type’ section.

  1. Click add item.
  2. The new entry will default to the bottom of the list.
  3. Enter an Item id.
  4. Enter an abstract (name of the letter type).
  5. Order the list of letter options by assigning a prime ID. (The smaller the number, the higher in the list it will appear in the dropdown).
  6. If registered for CII (Community information integration) and would like consult reports to be uploaded, select that type from the CII document type. (Ideal for clinics seeing patients referred to them from an external clinic).
  7. Click save.

Deleting a letter type

Setup > Add item types > select letters in the ‘type’ section.
  1. Click on the letter type to delete.
  2. Click delete.

*Note, if the type has been used on a patient chart previously, the type cannot be deleted.

To prevent a letter type being used moving forward (if unable to delete), check off the ‘archived’ check box.
