Appointment states can be configured by the clinic to be viewable in the patient portal. This is helpful when the clinic has custom appointment states for things like short notice cancellations or if the clinic cancels the appointment instead of the patient. Without customizing these appointment states, the patients may see incorrect upcoming appointments in their portal.
Use the ‘Portal Visibility’ checkboxes to select if an appointment state should be viewed by the patients.
You can
customize if appointment types are shown in the Patient Portal. This is helpful
if your clinic uses appointment types for administrative items, such as
Prescription Refills (to notify the provider of a refill, not an appointment
that the patient will attend).
To specify
the appointment types that can be viewed by the patient in the Patient Portal,
go to Appts -> Appointment Type Setup.
Once the window opens, select the appointment type you would like to edit.
From here you will see one of two things. If the appointment type does not have Online Booking selected and does not have Virtual selected as a method, you will have a check box beside Patient Portal Display.
You can use this to configure the visibility for the patient. If you have the box checked, then the patient can view the appointment in the Portal. If you deselect the checkbox then the appointment type is not available for the patient to see.
If your
clinic uses Online Booking or Virtual Visits, those two items will affect Patient
Portal visibility. If you have either of those two items selected for an
appointment type, you will be unable to edit the Patient Portal visibility as these
items require the Patient Portal.
As you can see, there is no option to select Patient Portal Display.
