Phrase lists

 A phrase list is a pre-typed list of commonly used phrases or sentences that can be inserted into a free text field with just one click. It can save time and effort, especially when you need to repeatedly type the same phrases or sentences.


This can:

  1. Increase efficiency in charting for commonly used phrases.
  2. Standardize charting throughout the clinic.
Using a phrase list:
  1. Place cursor in the text box in the chart note.
  2. Click the phrase from the right side of the chart note, the phrase will appear in the note where the cursor was.


  1. Continue typing in the free text field to add to the phrase list text.

Creating new phrase lists

  1. Setup > Charting setup > Phrase lists.
  2. Click ‘New’, the new entry will be at the bottom.

  1. Type in the phrase, can be any length.
  2. To limit the phrase to one template, select from the drop down. (If blank, it will be available in all chart templates).
  3. To prompt use in specific fields within a chart note, select from the dropdown. (If blank, the phrase will appear under general on the chart note phrase lists).
  4. To limit the phrase to one doctor, select from the drop down. (If blank, will be available for all to use).
  5. Create categories per field within the phrase list view (See below).
  6. Assign the phrase an order number, this will sort the view of phrases in numerical order.
