Select referral template, default is Blank Referral, click ‘OK’.
Or, to copy a previous referral on the patient chart, click the 'history' tab, select the referral of choice, to include the same attachments, mark the check box 'copy attachments'.
Click ok and it will generate a new entry
with all the same information as the referral that was copied, edit as
required.
Much of how the referral management template is filled in
will depend on clinic workflows, noting who is responsible for what sections.
Once the referral is open:
Assign
the referral to either an individual, or a job class such as ‘referral coordinator’.
Click save.
The
status and priority will default to ‘pending’ and ‘low’, change as applicable.
The
referring practitioner will default to the practitioner who is creating the
referral, change as required.
Type
in the reason for referral in the free text or select from recently used in the dropdown.
Type
any notes in the referral notes section, send attached documents, or patient
willing to travel for appointment.
Referral attachments
Add
the referral letter and any supporting documents to send with the referral to
the referral management.
Click the paperclip icon on the right.
Select the type of document and highlight the
document to add.
Click add.
Repeat this until all required documents are on
the list.
To remove an attachment, highlight it on the
right, and click remove (this will remove from the list of attachments for this
referral, the document will remain on the patient’s chart).
Click save, this will close the attachment
window, the list of attachments will now be visible in the referral.
Click
save to send this referral to the team member who will take over the process
from here.
