Electronic lab mismatches
On occasion, lab results will not link to a
patient chart. This may be due to a spelling discrepancy in the patient
demographics or not finding a matching practitioner.
Automated lab process – Linking unlinked labs to a patient
When logging into Healthquest at the start
of the day, the security/news feed will open. At the top of that window will be
a warning of unlinked labs. Click lab results.
The lab results window will open with the warning
of unlinked labs.
- Click yes.
- The lab results exception window will appear.
- Highlight
the lab result, the patients with similar last names will be displayed at the
bottom of the window.
- Preview
the lab result by clicking on the ‘view
lab result’ button to view.
- Select
the correct patient’s name from the list of similar client names in the bottom.
- Or click the search client button to open
the client lookup. Type in the patient’s name and select from the list.
- If the client is not in the system, but
needs to be, click ‘Add new client.’ Enter applicable information into the
client card and save.
- Now that a lab result and a client are
highlighted, click ‘Link to client.’
- Repeat
this for all the lab results.

Click lab results from the warning found on
the security/new feed window (example shown above).
- Click lab results.
- Click yes to confirm you want to link the lab result to a doctor.
- The 'lab results exception' window will open.
- Highlight
a lab result.
- Preview
the lab result by clicking on the ‘view lab result’ button to view, find
the correct doctor, or look up patient if required.
- Select
the lab doctor.
- Select
the clinic doctor from the dropdown.
- Click
the link to clinic doctor.
If a manual lab process is completed every
day, a warning will not appear on the security/news feed window. Open the lab
results from the admin menu as part of a daily routine. The unlinked labs
warning will pop up. Follow the same steps as above to link to patients and or
practitioners.
